Davido Announces Indefinite Music Break, Says He’s Still Dominating Clubs

Nigerian music superstar Davido has revealed that he is taking an indefinite break from releasing new music, leaving fans surprised across social media.

The award-winning singer made the announcement during a recent livestream session with Davrel, where he openly addressed constant questions from fans about when his next project or single would be released.

According to the “OBO” crooner, he is currently on a musical sabbatical and has no immediate plans to drop new songs anytime soon.

“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break,” Davido said during the livestream.

The singer also explained that despite stepping away temporarily from releasing music, his influence in the industry remains strong. He confidently stated that his songs are still dominating nightlife and club playlists across Nigeria and beyond.

“Like I said, if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine,” he added.

Davido’s statement has sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans expressed disappointment over the possibility of waiting a long time for new music, others believe the singer deserves a break after years of consistent releases, international tours, and chart-topping hits.

Beyond music, Davido also shared his thoughts on the growing popularity of celebrity boxing tournaments in Nigeria. The singer described the trend as a welcome development for the entertainment industry, noting that it adds excitement and fresh content for fans.

“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development,” he stated.

The celebrity boxing scene in Nigeria has recently gained massive attention following the much-talked-about match between popular streamer Carter Efe and controversial singer Portable.

Carter Efe emerged victorious in the bout, officially dethroning Portable as the reigning champion of the celebrity boxing tournament.

Following the defeat, Portable publicly expressed frustration, accusing some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry of failing to support him. The singer claimed that many people within the music scene dislike him.

Davido’s comments have now added even more attention to both the celebrity boxing trend and conversations surrounding the future of his music career.

For now, fans can only wait and hope the Afrobeats superstar returns to the studio sooner rather than later.
