Nigerian music legend Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has made it clear that a reunion with his former group, Plantashun Boiz, is not something fans should expect.
The award-winning singer shared this during a recent radio interview with media personality Steve Onu, as part of the buildup to his 25th anniversary celebration in the music industry. While the conversation touched on nostalgia and the impact of his early career, 2Baba was firm when asked about the possibility of the iconic group coming back together.
According to him, although there is no bad blood between him and his former bandmates, he has moved on from that chapter of his life.
“Other members of the group can go ahead, but as for me, I’m not interested. I have no beef with anyone, but as for me, it’s not going to happen.”
The legendary group Plantashun Boiz which also featured Blackface and Faze played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s modern Afro-pop sound in the early 2000s. Their music defined an era and laid the foundation for the global rise of Afrobeats as we know it today.
Despite consistent calls from fans over the years for a reunion, 2Baba’s latest remarks suggest that such hopes may remain just that hopes. The singer appears fully focused on his solo journey and the legacy he continues to build as one of Africa’s most respected music figures.
As he celebrates an impressive 25 years on stage, 2Baba’s enduring influence and commitment to his craft remain undeniable. While a reunion with Plantashun Boiz may no longer be on the table, his impact both as a group member and a solo artist continues to resonate across generations.
