Nigerian rapper and producer Jesse Jagz has voiced strong concerns over the country’s deepening economic hardship and rising insecurity, adding his voice to the growing chorus of public figures criticizing Nigeria’s leadership.
The “Bad Girl” crooner did not hold back as he questioned the level of corruption and poor governance among the nation’s political elite. According to him, it is difficult to understand why leaders entrusted with improving the lives of citizens instead prioritize personal gain.
Jagz pointed out that the failure of many politicians to invest in essential infrastructure particularly healthcare has led to a troubling irony. He noted that some of these same leaders who neglect local medical facilities often end up seeking treatment abroad, where many ultimately die. In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, he criticized the pattern of looting public funds and moving them overseas instead of using them to build the country.
In a separate post, the rapper went further, alleging that many Nigerian politicians no longer serve the interests of the people but instead act as “puppets” for foreign powers. His comments reflect a broader sentiment of distrust toward political leadership and external influence in the country’s governance.
Jagz also made controversial claims about international involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape. He suggested that conditions in the country have worsened since the administration of former U.S. President Barack Obama, alleging that support from the U.S. helped the All Progressives Congress rise to power.
Drawing parallels with historical events, he likened modern-day politicians to collaborators during colonial times and the transatlantic slave trade, accusing them of prioritizing personal and foreign interests over national development.
His remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the role of leadership, accountability, and foreign influence in shaping the country’s current economic and security challenges.
