Veteran Nigerian singer Bigiano has stirred conversation online after claiming he played a key role in the creation of Davido’s breakout hit song, "Dami Duro".
The Shayo crooner made the revelation during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he stated that he was responsible for writing the hook of the iconic track. According to Bigiano, his contribution was instrumental to the song’s success.
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” he said during the interview.
Bigiano also addressed his long absence from the music scene, explaining that it was a deliberate decision rather than a setback. He noted that stepping away was necessary to regroup and prepare for a stronger comeback.
“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he explained.
Despite staying out of the limelight for years, the singer dismissed any claims of financial hardship, confidently stating that he is doing well.
“I can’t be broke,” he added.
Released in 2011, Dami Duro was a turning point in Davido’s career, propelling him to stardom and establishing him as one of Nigeria’s leading music stars. Over the years, the song has earned recognition as one of the greatest Afrobeats tracks of all time, receiving praise from both local and international music enthusiasts.
However, despite Bigiano’s claims, he is not officially listed as a co-writer on the song. Davido is yet to respond publicly to the singer’s assertion.
Bigiano’s revelation has since sparked fresh debate among fans, many of whom are eager to hear Davido’s side of the story.
