Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has shared how working with Grammy-winning singer Wizkid helped reshape her understanding of confidence.
The singer made the revelation while speaking about her experiences with Wizkid during an interview on Tuesday, following her performance at the Grammy Museum. During the conversation, Ayra Starr described the “Essence” crooner as a leading legend whose attitude and personality left a lasting impression on her.
According to Ayra Starr, her first time collaborating with Wizkid was overwhelming, as she could hardly believe she was working with one of Africa’s biggest music icons. However, it was their second encounter that taught her a valuable lesson.
She explained that Wizkid’s calm, cool, and relaxed demeanour showed her that true confidence does not have to be loud or attention-seeking. Instead, she observed that the superstar exudes quiet confidence, rooted in self-awareness and a clear sense of purpose.
Reflecting on the experience, Ayra Starr said Wizkid’s ability to remain present and focused on his life’s mission inspired her to approach her own career with greater confidence and intention.
The singer noted that the lesson has stayed with her, reinforcing the idea that confidence is not about making noise, but about knowing who you are and standing firmly in it.
