“I Don’t Care About Awards, But I Want Davido to Win” — Omah Lay Reacts to First Grammy Nomination

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Omah Lay (born Stanley Omah Didia), has shared his reaction after earning his first-ever Grammy nomination.

The talented singer was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for his collaboration with Davido on the hit song “With You.”

Taking to his Instagram page, Omah Lay expressed both excitement and indifference toward the milestone. While he admitted that the nomination made him happy, he was quick to clarify that he doesn’t really care about awards.

In his words:

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah, but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while; he stood by me during my hardest times.”


Omah Lay’s heartfelt message highlights his deep appreciation for Davido, whom he describes as a true friend and source of support during tough moments.

Meanwhile, despite receiving four previous Grammy nominations, Davido is yet to clinch a win. He has been a consistent nominee in the Best African Music Performance category since its introduction in 2023.

The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast globally on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
