Legendary Nigerian music icon, Innocent "2Face" Idibia, has shared an unexpected update about his first son, Nino. Despite growing up around one of Africa’s most celebrated musicians and even having undeniable musical talent himself Nino has no plans to follow in his father’s footsteps.
During an event in Abuja celebrating 2Face’s 25 years in the music industry, the African Queen crooner invited Nino on stage and proudly introduced him to the cheering crowd. But he also revealed a surprising detail:
“Make some noise for my son Nino, mehn,” 2Face said, before adding, “He said he doesn’t want to be a singer. He wants to be a doctor.”
Although Nino is a gifted saxophonist and has built a name for himself as a model and social media influencer, his passion lies firmly in the medical field.
Born on January 15, 2006, to 2Face and Sumbo Adeoye, Nino continues to chart his own path a contrast to the growing trend of celebrity kids stepping into the entertainment spotlight. For example, Wizkid’s first son, Boluwatife Balogun, recently launched his music career at just 14 with his debut EP Champions’ Arrival, performing under the stage name “Champz.”
While many children of Nigerian music stars often choose to mirror their parents’ careers, Nino Idibia is proving that sometimes the next generation prefers to write a completely different story.
