Now that you’ve got a very good track, when I mean a “very good track”, a song that possesses good instrumental with proper mixing and mastering by a professional or a sound engineer.  All these attributes must be in place before you consider making moves in promoting your music.
If you believe your song has got the above mentioned qualities, then the following you should consider:

We are in the era of technology, computers, gadgets and social platform communications whereby you can stay at the comfort of your home to get what you want with the help of the Internet.
Promoting your music online plays 50 percent role when we talk about promoting your content. Thousands and thousands of people surf the internet daily searching for different kind of stuffs especially music. They want to hear new sounds, new concept, things they’ve never heard before. This alone should provide you with more morale to consider taking it first online.
Another advantage about online promotion is that your song becomes easily distributed to any part of world. It starts first on your small computer at your tidy location, with the small idea of sharing your link on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whats-app, etc it will start spreading like virus to big continents like Europe, America, Asia, Australia and then comes back to our own beloved continent “Africa”.
It will also give people more orientation about you, in the sense that your fans can easily stay in touch with you, they can easily lookup on Google and other online search engines and Boom! There you are their favourite artiste.

Another effective way of promoting your song is to seek for radio airplay. It must first start from your local area radio, since that is where you come from. It is better to get known first locally before going viral. Why? Because your home peeps are your true fans, they must feel your music first before the world does.
How? Your local fans are the ones that will say I know this guy or girl, he or she used to be this and that, but now the hustle has yield results. They will even be the ones that will start telling others about you, introducing your song to their peeps, playing out on their cars, homes, offices, events, streets and even places you could hardly imagine.
Considering a radio airplay should be one of your most top priorities when promoting your song.

Promoting your song on your local radio station can also get you a local a radio interview, an opportunity you wouldn’t like to miss! Who wouldn’t love a radio interview? I mean the utmost dream of an artiste is to be interviewed on a radio, TV, podcast, etc.

Hmm, I know it will take a few penny from you, Come on; Stop thinking like a dreamer. If you really want to get there and be like 2baba, Psquare, Wizkid, Olamide, etc then you need to consider this as a vital option as well.
Street jam will not only brush up your stage fright, but will also bring great awareness to your neighborhood, bringing you to their notice that you exist. I mean if this is not a vital option, why will top artiste in the likes of Vector the viper will always come back to his hood Lafiaji, McCarthy multiple times yearly for street jam? But if most of us were to be in Vector’s position, will just assume that they’ve reached the limelight and wouldn’t even consider bringing their music back to where they started from. I can see you want to be famous but you don’t want to make a little sacrifice? That’s lame; Being the likes of 2baba, Psquare, Olamide, Wizkid, etc didn’t just happen overnight. They all started from where you are right now.

Ok, you’ve a got a great song with good sounds and a professional mastering and you don’t have enough money to shoot a standard video. You know what I mean by a Standard video. Then making a viral video might just be a very good idea.
The purpose for viral videos differs depending on the artiste; some artiste make viral video for fans to anticipate the official video of a song, while some make it because they are on a low budget at the moment.
Either way “a viral video is a viral video” lol funny English.  Viral videos help the artiste show his or her music language in a visual state of mind. It will help create that communication, concept, inspiration and the story behind the track, thereby keeping your fans in anticipation for the main official video.

Make a video teaser:
Apart from making a viral video, you can also consider dropping a video teaser before you drop an official video for your new song.
Video teaser  shows the most anticipated and interesting part of an official music video, it is considered as a good way of putting your fans in the mood of excitement knowing their favourite artiste is about dropping an official video for his or her new track.

Putting your newly released track on a mix is considered as another effective way of marketing your music.
You don’t only need to put it on any-how mix, you need to consider the kind of artiste you are and the kind of genre of music you are into.
Take for example that you a Hip-Hop artiste, then you must direct your mix on the list of top hip-hop artiste that is still doing well in the game. Not only doing well, but are considered market selling.
Put your song on these collections and let your local marketers sell them. At this point of time you are not driving on making money but to be known first. This might even bring shows and events for you if it goes down well.

There are many ways of promoting your music, but the above stated points are considered as the primary steps to be taken for your music to get out there. Some people even use online distribution, to get their music to sites such as iTunes, Amazon, etc, we will to talk about this on our subsequent article.

Whichever way you choose to promote your song is up to you, but do it in respect to your own capability.

Good luck fellas
